pretty in pink!

Gah! I've been hopeless with my blogging - or lack thereof. But im here now and to make up for my prolonged absence i'll make this one good, i hope =].

Ahh September, how i love you... the warmth on my skin, the small of jasmine in the air and the start of the new fashion season! This Spring brings with it pretty dresses, glittery nails and cute accessories. Being on my tiny Maccas budget i really dont have the money to indulge my fashion cravings - cheaper department stores here i come. This means that you're much more likely to see someone in the same outfit as you. Oh no! To combat this potential catastrophe i have come up with a two part plan: shop where you wouldn't normally and customise your clothes.

Think about it, you walk into a shop and you head straight towards the women's clothing area, along with every other girl, but just for a moment, take a look around, there are so many fashion possibilities lurking just out of sight on those untouched male racks - in places like JayJays especially, they sell really cool guys tees. Read:
cut off the sleeves and down the neckline or roll the sleeves and belt, wear with leggings and killer heels. You can also add pretty buttons or badges to add a touch of eccentricity to your wardrobe.

Accessorise, accessorise, accessorise. This is the key to making any outfit look stunning. If your outfit's looking a little dull, add some bright bangles or clutch, while a vibrant ensemble may be accentuated with black and silver accessories. But while accessorising is important, minimalism is the key - don't go overboard or you'll look like a kid playing dress-ups.

One final tip: dress to suit you! There are two main factors that influence the way you should dress - your body shape and your colouring (this doesn't just mean whether you tan or not). A great site to help you make sense of all this is: http://www.fashionadvice.biz/index.html

To conclude my first post of the Spring i shall leave you with the gorgeous Ms Emma Watson - she's come a long way from robes and frizzy hair.

Enjoy Spring in all its prettiness!

etcetera..

Hola!
I must really try and blog some more, but what with organising work experience, assignments etcetera, i really havent found the time. But here i am, so i shall have a little rant and fill you in on some of my favourite things.

Music:
At the moment im into kinda chilled music with a good beat, bringing me to The Cat Empire. Theyre an awesome Australian band with a unique, but very catchy, sound.
Also on my music radar are: Josh Pyke, Bob Evans, Franz Ferdinand, Lisa Mitchell, with a bit of Patrick Wolf and Prince thrown into the mix.

Fashion:
With the weather becoming chilly its time to rug up. Skinnies are still going strong with very dark blue being the colour this season, team this with a tee and an eskimo hoodie or a black leather jacket, for a snazzy ensemble.
For a different option, buy a pair of bright or printed stockings, add one of those cute dresses usually reserved for summer and a black, leather jacket.
Winter brings with it warm, knit scarves and beanies and comfy ankle boots; so embrace the cold and the fashion opportunities that come with it.

Hair:
With side fringes every where you look, its refreshing to see the front fringe making a revival. If your feeling a little daring and want to stand out from the crowd, this look is definitely a good idea. Team with messy bed hair and you're ready; if your hair isnt a natural with waves, lightly curl your hair with a straightener the night before and sleep on it. So easy and so chic.

Makeup:
KISS - Keep It Simple Stupid, probably the best advice ive ever heard. Dont go OTT with your makeup, you'll look so much better in your own skin. Combine minimal makeup - just a coat of mascara and eyeliner, possibly a little foundation if necessary - with tousled waves, to create a stunning, natural look.
In Nail News, purple is the colour to rock this season, with so many great shades to choose from, there's something for everyone. Just slick on a few coats and be prepared to stun.

Winter Reading:
With both the Harry Potter and Twilight sagas completed, we must search elsewhere for the perfect book to snuggle up with, in a blanket and hot chocolate cupped in our hands. And i think i've found it. Nightmare Academy by Frank Peretti is the second book in The Veritas Project series, and is really well written, has an exciting plot and leaves you thinking long after the last page has been turned. It might seem a little strange at the start, but persevere.

Interneting:
fmylife.com
Hilarious anecdotes about the horrible, little things in life. Hours of fun at your fingertips.

I really ought to get back to writing my story for English, but i'll leave you with a picture of Taylor Momsen modeling for IMG.

ice ice baby!

Sorry i haven't posted, but assignments have been calling; joy!

I believe myself to be an expert in the art of procrastination, to avoid doing my assignments i completely cleaned out my room, it looked crazily tidy - not that it lasted long =P. I also cleared out some of my old clothes, now i realise that in fact i have quite a small wardrobe; yay perfect excuse to shop! - not that i ever need one. With autumn just starting this week and my trip to america in their winter, i better start rugging up.

My winter wishlist:
- ice blue skinnies
- crazy coloured or patterned stockings, a must for a unique winter wardrobe
- perhaps a little dress or two to wear with the stockings, and oversized cardi
- oversized cardi
- some plaid maybe or any snazzy patterns really
- plenty of printed tees, preferably from less commercial shops, it kind of ruins your individual
style when you see 5 other people wearing the same supre top.
- dark grey trackies with elastic at the bottom paired with a russell athletic/champion jumper for
those days when you just cant be bothered.
- russell athletic/champion jumper
- footless leggings
- bright colours to liven up the dull winter colour scheme
- knit sweater dress
- a warm knit scarf, maybe a beanie too?
- and of course a pair of kmart shoes

So thats my extensive =] winter wishlist. I shall set it off with bright nails, a fresh coat of mascara and a few bangles and rings to jazz it up.

At the moment pretty much anything goes, so explode like a creative bomb and give the world a taste of you. Think outside the box, or if you are perhaps not a creative genius, take a few tips from the Geldof girls, the Olsens, Taylor Momsen and throw in a little Alexa Chung, or whoever else happens to take your fancy.

Just a spoonful of sugar equals several full shopping bags!

so this is my first blog. ill just talk about whatever takes my fancy. i really love fashion and anything to do with it. at the moment im really inspired by alexa chung and taylor momsen. their styles are really simple and unique. taylor in particular both on gossip girl and off, looks absolutely amazing, she's really young and fresh.
you know how every girl has something shes really obsessed with, like shoes, hats, bangles, stockings. well i love my hair, i change it at least 3 times a day and i hate it when my hair looks bad. i never go anywhere without elastics and bobby pins, they save my life. im not sure whether im going to cut my hair short or not, or whether should make my side fringe a full front one. decisions, decisions.
also, i love eyeliner it just makes my eyes pop. i want to buy orangy-red nail polish.
so that was my first blog, hope you like.
